Gear Lightning by Merrrit Carden
Transmission Gear Lightening, Adjustable Upper Control Arms
and other Custom Machine Work for Alfa Romeos

by Merrit Carden.

Give your Alfa Romeo the added agility that it deserves with custom performance features from Merrit Carden.

Lightened Gear

Quicker shifting with lighter gears

Alfa Romeos are known for their less than robust second gear sychros. Merrit can take your transmission gears and machine them so they are lighter creating less inertia and therefore a smoother shifting transmission.

If you're rebuilding a gearbox make sure that you spend a little extra money to protect those new sychros with lightened first and second gears.

If you're setting up a race or autocross car Merrit can do the entire set.

Right: Second gear from a 105-series spider. Before and After!

Below: Gear set from a GTV-6 (Milano/75 similar.)

Do the entire set!

Gears must be clean and disassembled from transmission. Machine work starts at $85 per gear and usually $100 for a first gear.

Adjustable upper control arms for 105/115 series cars.Lightened Gear

Allow your spider, GTV, or even your berlina to accept whatever camber setting that you want. Any 1750, 2000 or Giulia can get this modification. Like gear lightening, this is an extra custom touch that you can give your Alfa Romeo that can help your alignment specialist dial in the exact specified camber and caster adjustments that the Factory recommends or the setting that you feel does best on the road, the track or the autocross course.

Send in clean control arms that are in good condition. Control arms can be modified for $200 per pair.

And ask about special tools.
